About the Weather Link Hub

The Weather Link Hub site started with an idea from a newly degreed meteorologist out of the University of Maryland at College Park, MD.  Nabeel Keblawi was inspired to create a web hub where top quality data and operational forecast models could be readily selected and accessed from.

Below is a message from the site owner.

Message from Nabeel Keblawi:

Thank you for visiting Weather Link Hub.  This site aims to be a central hub for accessing countless atmospheric and oceanic datasets, models, products, and resources scattered all over the Internet.  Before I created this site, a single central site where nearly all of these resources can be accessed did not exist.  Weather Link Hub actually takes it further than merely linking to these resources by:

  • Selecting only the top-quality sites
  • Linking to universities and businesses dealing with atmospheric & oceanic sciences
  • Setting up an easy-to-navigate organizational structure
  • Giving site evaluations, brief introductions, and reviews for each link where necessary

A little background about myself: I was raised in the Washington, DC metropolitan area throughout most of my life, and I was fortunate enough to live in a place where all four distinct seasons could be experienced in the course of a year.  I became fascinated with the weather while I was growing up, experiencing heat waves, thunderstorms, lightning, hail, heavy rains, wind, and blizzards - all in the suburbs of Washington, DC.  Through all of this, I had wondered how the weather worked and how weathermen were able to predict what was going to happen within a couple days to even a week (with some accuracy).  Although my strongest skills were in math and science throughout my education, it wasn't until the year 2003, after I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Information Technology, when I realized that my true passion lies in Meteorology and related fields in the broad discipline of Environmental Science.  I decided to attend graduate school to get a Masters and a Doctorate in this field.

In 2006, I received a Masters of Science in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland.  In the short term, I hope to be involved with improving weather/climate forecasting and tailoring these forecasts for specific customers; please view my research interests for more information.  It is also my hopes that this will lead to a career involving shifting our lifestyle to using renewable energies, and/or mitigation of natural disasters which seem to be increasing in frequency due to sharply expanding infrastructure in high-risk areas that are prone to natural disasters.

Meanwhile, I created this site for my personal use, simply to find what I needed depending on the task at hand.  I hope you also find this site useful.  Thank you for using the Weather Link Hub!

For more information about my education, qualifications, and experience, please view my resume and track my credentials.  In February 2007, I was recognized as one of the professional meteorologists who posts at a popular EasternUSWX weather chat forum in an article entitled 'Snow lovers share frustration on chat board' written by the Philadelphia Inquirer Staff Writer Anthony R. Wood.

Happy forecasting,

Nabeel Keblawi
